Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app require a brokerage account?

No. All market data (quotes, options chains, price history) comes from Yahoo Finance, which is freely accessible without an account. Financial statements come from SEC EDGAR, also free and open to the public.

Why does the options chain sometimes show dashes instead of prices?

Market makers only quote options during regular trading hours (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM ET). Outside those hours, or for illiquid strikes, bid/ask/mark may be unavailable. Try again when the market is open, or select a more liquid expiration with higher open interest.

Why is my delta different from what my broker shows?

Delta is computed locally using the Black-Scholes model with Yahoo Finance's implied volatility. Brokers may use different models or live Greeks from an exchange feed. Small differences are expected, especially for deep ITM/OTM options or near expiration.

The app is showing the wrong company name for my ticker. How do I fix it?

Add a free Finnhub API key in Settings. The terminal will then resolve company names via Finnhub's symbol-search API whenever you type a query.

How do I access the Economic Dashboard?

Add a free FRED API key in Settings. Once configured, the Economic Dashboard appears in the Brief tab. It shows the Sahm Rule indicator, Yield Curve, Michigan Consumer Sentiment, Jobless Claims, and more.

What is the Canadian Put strategy?

The Canadian Put is a strategy where you buy a deep In-the-Money (ITM) call instead of selling a cash-secured put. Because a deep ITM call's extrinsic (time) value is equivalent to the premium of the same-strike put, you capture a similar income but with less capital at risk. The calculator compares the two side by side for every near-20-delta strike.

Can I use the app on multiple Macs?

Yes. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID. Sign in with the same Apple ID on any Mac and use Restore Purchase on the paywall screen to unlock the app.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. Go to System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, find The Andy Terminal, and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also manage it from the App Store app.

How do I report a bug?

Use Help → Report a Bug… from the menu bar, or go to Settings → Send Feedback. Both open an in-app form where you can describe the issue, attach diagnostic logs, and optionally provide a reply email. You can also email us directly using the address below.

Is my financial data stored anywhere?

No. The app fetches data on demand and stores nothing server-side. Your watchlist, API keys, and preferences are saved locally on your Mac only.
